Bulimba State School- an Independent Public School

Bulimba State School became an Independent Public School (IPS) in 2014. There are now 130 IPS schools in Queensland.
The Independent Public Schools initiative recognises the best decision-making, for the most part, occurs at a local level through direct response to local community needs and aspirations.
It is designed to reduce red tape, giving schools more opportunities to achieve the best possible outcomes for their students and local communities.

The establishment of the Bulimba State School Council

All Independent Public Schools are required to establish a school council. School councils enable greater involvement of the school community and other stakeholders in setting the strategic direction of the school.
Bulimba State School’s council has been in operation since mid-2014. Download the Bulimba State School Council Constitution (PDF, 228KB)
There are eight (8) members of the school council- The Principal and P&C President, two parent members, two staff members and two community members.
The Bulimba State School Council meets once a term, with additional and special meetings scheduled as needed.
