‘The Arts’, whether it be Visual Arts, Dance or Drama, is how we express ourselves.
The Visual Arts program from Prep to Year 6 has the Elements and Principles of Design embedded throughout each year level’s units of study. Students immerse themselves in making and responding opportunities, using a variety of media and techniques. Year levels also study relevant artists, reflecting upon their works.
In Dance units, students from Prep to Year 6 explore, improvise and organise ideas to make dance sequences using the Elements of Dance that represent their ideas. They view and respond to their own, other students, and a variety of dances, from other cultures.
The Drama units from Prep to Year 6, explore role and dramatic action in dramatic play, improvisation and process drama. Students use voice, facial expression, movement and space to imagine and establish role and situation. They present drama that communicates ideas, and respond to drama and consider where and why people make drama.
